Are you tired all the time? Do you have aching or burning pain throughout your body? Are you having issues with your memory and mood? If so, you may be suffering from Fibromyalgia.
Fibromyalgia is a long-lasting disorder that causes pain and tenderness
throughout the body. Anyone can get it, but women are affected at a higher rate than men, with multiple studies showing the ratio to be 70% female to 30% male. Other studies increase that ratio up to 90% female to 10% male. Nevertheless, Fibromyalgia may affect any sex and age group but usually starts in or around middle age.
The chance of having it increases as you get older; scientists do not know what causes it. They do, however, know that there is an increased risk of having it if one has a family history of Fibromyalgia.
Along with widespread pain and tiredness, other symptoms
of Fibromyalgia include:
• Sleep trouble.
• Muscle and joint stiffness.
• The body is tender to the touch.
• Numbness or tingling in the limbs.
• Problems with concentration and memory.
• Sensitivity to light and noise.
• Digestion trouble such as bloating or constipation.
Though the cause of Fibromyalgia isn’t currently known, brain studies and research have shown a change in the nerve signals emanating from the brains of people with Fibromyalgia. The nerve pathways may often be blocked and thus cause an increase in symptoms.
At Atlas, we treat Fibromyalgia patients by adjusting the top bone of the spine, called the atlas. When the atlas is out of its proper position, it puts pressure on the nerves as they leave the brain, which can cause or contribute to the symptoms of Fibromyalgia.
The Atlas consultation and exam will determine if your atlas is out of place and if that may affect your nerves. If it is, we will take a specialized series of digital X-rays and run them through spinal engineering software to determine how out of place the atlas is and precisely what we need to do to return it to its proper position.
We will then perform a highly accurate, painless, sound-wave-based adjustment to put the atlas back in place. Once the atlas is appropriately positioned, blood flow and nerve signals to and from the brain should return to normal levels. We have had considerable success in treating Fibromyalgia patients and may be able to help you as well.
